The Sticker

The Sticker

You know what I realized? “I Voted” sticker has never meant so much before. At least not on the last two elections. On this election, pride was included with the those stickers. In class, I saw students with “I voted” stickers walking in with heads held up high, chest puffed out, “I Voted” proudly showing.

I don’t care who you voted for. You gotta admit, the 2008 elections meant a lot. A lot of issues were at stake and we all learned from the last two elections that one vote DOES matter. Although I couldn’t vote, I feltĀ  proud seeing fellow students standing up and making their voices heard. I have never seen so many students so interested in an election before.

However, one thing does bug me a little bit. People that were tired of listening to others talked about the elections. You guys are such poor saps. Damn party poopers. These guys are excited about the elections and issues that they are supporting. Let them be. If you’re not interested, you don’t have to listen to them. I dont like hearing this: “God, people can finally stop talking about the elections now.” or “People needs to get over themselves and stop talking about proposition so and so.” You know what? Fuck off. These guys are excited about an issue and are willing to voice their opinions. We had the highest voters turn out in this year’s election because of people like them. Because they care. Don’t discourage them for caring.

You know me, I personally don’t go around talking about prop this and prop that, but you know what? I enjoyed listening to other people voicing their opinions about different issues. Because I know these guys take pride in doing it. They believe in the causes that they were supporting so strongly that they are willing to let the whole world knows. So really, stop being such assholes and let them talk. You disagree? then talk. Let YOUR voices be heard.
